Promotes the exchange of ideas regarding administration and management problems unique to legal organizations. Our members have diversified legal expertise in many areas of law firm administration.

SURVEy

An annual law office employee benefits/salary survey is performed and is available to the general public. The information is a valuable tool for making many personnel decisions. The survey is free of charge to chapter member participants.

MANAGING PARTNERS ANNUAL LUNCHEON

Promotes our profession by educating the managing partners as to the value and availability of administrators. The luncheon is an opportunity to acknowledge the support of our law firms and to advance the goals of the ALA.

EDUCATION

Develops and promotes educational experiences with timely topics of special interest to legal administrators. Monthly luncheon programs and special seminars are conducted on financial management, human resources, information systems and technology, marketing and leadership development. A biannual vendor seminar focuses on equipment and services available to the legal community.

MONTHLY LUNCHEONS

Feature informative topics and speakers. Luncheons are held the second Tuesday of every month beginning at noon.

PICTORIAL DIRECTORY OF MEMBERS

Provides pertinent information on all chapter members and facilitates communications between law firms.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Enhances the leadership skills of members by involvement on chapter committees and service as elected officers at the local, regional and national level.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Scholarships are provided by the chapter to University of North Florida Legal Studies Program. Chapter members participate in Habijax, Jacksonville Bar Holiday Project, MS Bike Tour and March of Dimes Walkathon.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION

Promotes networking nationally and internationally. Offers educational conferences both nationally and regionally, telephone seminars, a bimonthly magazine on legal management, a directory of its 8,000+ members and a job bank. If you meet the criteria for membership, we would like to invite you to become a member of our organization. Your membership in the association will be beneficial to you and your knowledge and experience will add a great deal to our chapter.

Membership Criteria

Full-time legal administrators or support managers employed in a private law firm, legal service clinic, corporate legal department, university legal department, governmental legal agency, court system, charitable legal agency or some other organization engaged primarily in the practice of law. Please note that membership is not open to vendors or consultants.

Membership Dues

To be a member of the local chapter, you must also be a member of the international association. The dues for the international association are $200.00 annually if you are a first time member applying between January 1 and June 30, and $300.00 if you are a previous member applying between January 1 and June 30. If applying after July 1, dues amounts change to reflect a partial year membership. From time to time, ALA may have membership incentives/promotions of which you will be apprized during the application process. Dues for the local chapter are $125.00 annually.
